Creative Writing Contest: Are You For Real?
Konkurrencen var endnu engang hård, da vinderne i sidste skoleårs konkurrence i creative writing for 1. års elever blev kåret lige inden sommerferien.
I genren short story vandt Tyler S. Ivanov for sin "Rat King", og dommerne sagde følgende i deres begrundelse for førstepladsen:
"This story stood out in so many ways from the other entries. The premise of just such a divided dystopic world resonates well with the present time in which the wealthy and the impoverished already have no contact with each other and lack of mutual knowledge to the point of apathy. It's an original spin on the question of 'what's real'. The characters are well developed and convincing, and the level of detail is super. Editing definitely needs to take the form of refining some approximate diction and slightly irregular usage, but overall language skills are good."
Præmien for året bedste digt gik til Mille Kragerup for "Hide and Seek". Om digtet sagde dommerne:
"One of the stronger aspects of this poem is the consistent use of forest and woodland imagery that evolves to serve the story being told within the poem itself. It almost feels like a “coming-of-age” story that focuses on growth as a theme. The experimental form at the end enhances the story within the poem as well, adding emotional depth. One a more technical note, the rhyming and other literary devices within the piece are thoughtfully done. Overall, there's great cohesion between all elements of this piece. It all fits together and elevates the entire piece as a whole. Great job!"
I indeværende skoleår vender konkurrencen tilbage under titlen "Travellers". De nærmere detaljer afsløres på engelsklærerforeningens årsmøde og offentliggøres derefter på foreningens hjemmeside.
