In this course we are going to look at one of the most recognizable faces in the modern music industry, Taylor Swift. The magnitude of her fame has become a heavy influence on today’s society, and we are going to examine exactly what that influence is by looking at her song writing skills, her ability as a storyteller, and her influence as a role model, both as an artist a feminist, a business woman and political activist. Or maybe an English teacher?
Going home from this course you will have experienced multiple examples of Taylor Swift as a phenomenon. We will examine Taylor Swift as a role model, artist and brand, and briefly take a look at America itself through the lens of one of the world’s most popular artists and a cultural icon.
As a part of the course, we will present examples that can be used in your own class.
